From Traveler to Author: The Journey Behind 'Cruising the World'
After traveling the globe for nearly a year, I had countless stories to share but no suitable platform. While on the cruise, I experimented with blogging, thought about vlogging, and tested several travel applications. Each had its merits, but as a programmer, none quite matched my vision.
Early in my travels, I met Pete, A Boy from Cuba. We quickly bonded over our shared passion for photography, hauling camera gear across seven continents in pursuit of the perfect shot. One day, Pete suggested I write a book. I thought he was crazy. But after countless discussions, and more than a year of procrastination, Cruising the World: The Caribbean (Book 1) is finally live on Amazon.
Thank you, Pete, for your relentless encouragement (and occasional grief). The journey was worth it!
The vision I sought required a format that was accessible, cost-effective, and capable of showcasing high-quality images. It needed to be portable yet powerful, allowing readers to experience the beauty of travel without limitations. I believe I found the perfect solution.
The result is Cruising the World, an eight-book e-book series published through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. This format enables global distribution and seamless access across smartphones, tablets, Kindle devices, and desktop computers. Additionally, it supports links to maps and expanded photo galleries, enhancing the traditional e-book experience. With reasonable pricing and broad accessibility, all the essential criteria have been met.
This project is a work in progress. The first book is now available, and my website has been repurposed to support this new endeavor. As the journey continues, I have more ideas about where this might lead, but I’m always open to suggestions. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and hope you find Cruising the World both enlightening and enjoyable.
